Reflect. Refocus. Renew.
I often get asked what the best groups to work with are and in the past I always had one standard answer. In recent months, my perspective...and with that, my passion, has led me to re-think and rediscover some of the groups that I think make a huge impact. Not only in our community, but in our society. This reflection was not something I was expecting or prepared for, but it has been so liberating to me.
What I Learned From My Dog Today
The more rested and rejuvenated we are, the more we can do for others who need us, both two and four-legged.
The Importance Of Saying "Thank You"
Who doesn’t like to do things for others? Whether that be helping a neighbor, volunteering in the community or donating money or services, giving is one of the most rewarding things we can do to make a difference in our world.
Can't We All Just Get Along?
With the launch of our new site, I am so excited to start sharing some of my advice, experiences and opinions with all of our readers. I think it is so important that when we as a society see something that disturbs us or inspires us that we share it with others. Awareness and...

How We Choose Foto Friday Winners
We started our Foto Friday contests a year ago after Take Your Dog to Work day. With the arrival of Foto Friday on our website, we thought we'd let you in on how we pick the winners.
How Did We Get Here?
As we launch our new website and celebrate our first full year in the industry, I wanted to take a look back at how we got here, and where we want to go.

When you care, you cherish
To me, when you care, you cherish. The decision to be responsible for another life is big. It’s for keeps.
Working from home with Cleo: Benefit or Distraction?
If I had brought her into my downtown office during 'Take Your Dog To Work Day', she would have brought everyone's work to a halt, not just mine.
What it means to me
Living in San Francisco means that I am surrounded by diversity, nurtured by tolerance and encouraged by success stories.
Gaining Insight
Living with Cleo is like having a personal tutor on all things dog. She is that zoology lab class I took in college, or for the younger kids, she is like the touch pools at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Why I chose to write about Muttville
My city tends to love and embrace its pets. I certainly love my dog Cleo a lot. Every day she gives me, and strangers, moments of pure joy. As she has gotten older, my affection for her hasn’t diminished whatsoever. Her golden years are showing me how to age gracefully. I couldn’t imagine ever giving her up. Yet, there are people out there that dispose of senior dogs like Cleo.
Who wants to go for a walk?
For almost seven years now, one of my favorite moments with my dog is when we are getting ready to go for a walk. She loves to smell the city, picking up the news left by neighborhood dogs and residents. But before we 'saddle her up', also known as getting her harness on, she and I have created a ritual.

Home Is Where The Hound Is
When I think back to all of my various homes across the years, my cozy childhood home, dingy dorm rooms, and teensy one bedroom apartments, a wide range of emotions are attached to each one. Though I loved the feeling of freedom in my first "home away from home" dorm room, it...
