How Did We Get Here?
This has been an incredible time for us at LIFE+DOG since we first launched just a little over one year ago. We've grown in size from a regional publication to one available nationwide and we've added innovative and unique content segments that place us as a one-of-a-kind true lifestyle magazine for the contemporary dog lover. Along the way we have interviewed and photographed luminaries and animal advocates from Jordin Sparks to Kathie Lee Gifford to Ron Burns and Betsy Banks-Saul. We've created fundraising campaigns and charitable drives that have been responsible for more than $100,000 in charitable giving to Spay-Neuter initiatives and select animal welfare causes. We have started to do a lot. . . but there's so much more to do.
When I sat down to go over the final quality checks on our new website, the entire process had me thinking about our history and why we started LIFE+DOG. The answer is: you, our reader. We have always known that there is an enormous segment of our population that treats their canine companions as part of the family. These caretakers elevate the status of their dog far beyond the traditional meanings of the word "pet" and acknowledge the immense contributions that dogs can bring to everyone's life. This person—the contemporary canine lover—feels a connection to other dog people who, like them, just get it. Wherever they are, whether with their dogs or away, their four-legged family members are constantly on their mind.
We know that these people are everywhere and come from all walks of life. Most of them have never been engaged into the "dog world" and know nothing of the animal welfare movement. So the goal of LIFE+DOG became to create a publication that would appeal to everyone who loves their dog and to engage new members to our community by including content that relates directly to their contemporary lifestyles. LIFE+DOG combines the worlds of art, fashion, travel, modern living, home and dog culture in a fresh, new way. We tell the different story, the new story, the one that you haven't heard. And, along the way, we do our fair share of educating on the needs of the animal welfare community, the utmost importance of spaying and neutering your companions and the benefits of truly responsible care for your four-legged family members.
We hope that our new website will further solidify LIFE+DOG as the quintessential resource for "Modern Living With Man's Best Friend®" and will serve as inspiration to further integrate your canines into your life. We're an open book here and love to hear from our readers and this website can serve as the perfect sounding board.
