Makes 6 servings of chilled soup.
1 large cucumber
2-3 ripe tomatoes, NO green parts (can substitue an exta cucumber)
1 bell pepper, seeds removed
1 zucchini squash
.5 cup fresh or canned pumpkin
1 handful fresh parsley
.5 cup fresh organic corn, removed from cob
Substitute seasonal vegetables as they are available. Remember to always source organic fruits and vegetables for your dog. If you cannot find organic, make sure to remove the skin before use. Avoid onions, broccoli and mushrooms as well as garlic. We always like to include parsley in fresh recipes as it is a great herb to fight plaque.
Wash the vegetables and cut into cubes. Place all the vegetables in a blender or food processor until well combined. If desired, add 1-2 cups of water until the preferred consistency is reached. Store unused portions in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four days.
This delicious and nutritious ‘soup’ can be made with almost any fresh vegetables and is great for your dog as a stand-alone treat or as a topper to his regular food.
For overweight dogs, make this recipe in large batches and add to each meal in place of some of the kibble for a low-calorie and vitamin-packed substitute. You’ll keep them satisfied and the pounds will start to fall off!
