Dog Praising™

There is a dog and cat overpopulation epidemic in our country right now. Each year, more than 4 million animals are euthanized in shelters due to overcrowding and a lack of adoptive homes. LIFE+DOG is committed to encouraging responsible care for canine companions, and dedicated to promoting and elevating the entire animal welfare community. Together we can make a difference.

Every day there are thousands of incredible companion animals sitting in shelters and foster homes, waiting for someone to recognize their value and provide them with a loving home. We’re proud to introduce our new regular feature called DOG PRAISING™ where we’ll turn the shaming trend on its head to highlight the incredible qualities of dogs who are in need of forever homes. In fact, you can use this gallery to promote your OWN adoptable dogs or dogs you have rescued. Use the form below or use the #dogpraising tag in Instagram and you’re in! Make it fancy or not, it doesn’t matter—take it from your camera phone! Let’s make this a destination to promote all the incredible, loving dogs waiting their forever homes around the world!

Peace for Paws Ohio – Photos by Claudine Kosier
In addition to providing education and financial support for spay and neuter outreach and surgeries in rural areas of Ohio, Peace for Paws Ohio fosters and places dogs who would otherwise be euthanized in overcrowded shelters. The group works to keep people and their companions together, and helps ease the burden on shelters by providing temporary pet food assistance for families going through financial hardship. For more information on adoptable dogs or to donate, visit them at www.peaceforpawsohio.org or find them on Facebook.

Homeward Bound Dog Rescue – Schenectady, NY – Photos by Tracey Buyce
Homeward Bound Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer rescue group that relies entirely on in-home foster care for the dogs they save. Homeward Bound takes in dogs who can no longer be cared for by their owners, as well as dogs from puppy mills and area shelters. They then work to find these dogs appropriate, loving homes. The group believes that in-home foster care allows the rescue to learn more about the dog and find them the best home for the rest of their lives. Carolina Basset Hound Rescue – Photos by Mel Hammonds
The group of volunteers at Carolina Basset Hound Rescue is dedicated to the floppy-eared Basset Hound. Due to the adorable nature of these dogs when they are young—who can say no to the original Hush Puppy?— an alarmingly high number of Basset Hounds are turned in to local shelters due to irresponsible caretakers. The CBHR takes in homeless hounds from shelters throughout the Carolinas and finds them safe homes capable of providing a lifetime of love to this special breed. For more information on adoptable dogs or to donate, visit www.cbhr.com or find them on Facebook.
